I was really amazed to find out that my dental implants were made out of titanium. I went to my Long Island Periodontist two weeks ago and he was the one who told me that these Long Island dental implants were not made out of just any kind of metal. This astounded a little bit because in most cases, I would usually hear about titanium being used in eyeglasses and bicycles, but I would have never imagined this type of metal to be used for dental purposes. I guess it’s quite understandable though; titanium was also used for other medical procedures like leg replacements so it was only logical that it could also be used in your mouth.

Titanium is a very fine piece of metal that’s both durable and light. These qualities are what make this metal stand out from the other types because it’s not often that you’ll get to encounter a material that’s durable, yet maintaining a certain sense of lightness. Another reason why this metal is so beneficial is because it doesn’t easily corrode and rust. This is the most probable reason why titanium is used for medical procedures. Our internal organs are evidently moist and wet most of the time. To place just any kind of metal inside would seem dangerous to the person as it might corrode and iodize. That’s why the most ideal type of metal to use would be titanium. Likewise, this metal is used for dental purposes, specifically dental implants which Long Island Periodontists employ in tooth replacement.
